Mahabalipuram found "fame in stone", thanks to the invaluable contribution of Pallava art. It is an outstanding example of Dravidian art and architecture. In India, a country richly covered with some of the finest specimens of temple art, Mahabalipuram has its own place and is a glory of the architects of the time. Unfortunately, most of the work was not completed, but despite this, the fact that conserve nature and people, is admired even among seasoned travelers. The monuments are illuminated at night, which gives the opportunity to enjoy their beauty after sunset. Dance Festival in Mahabalipuram is held every year in December - January. It continues a month, and events are held on weekends. Classical dances such as Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Khathakali, Mohini Attam, Odissi, Kathak etc. are well-known examples of this art.
